BRAND + WEBSITE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

A SHOP FOR BRANDS

that mean business.

Land more of the customers you actually want, with a brand and website that better communicates your value.

- - - - - HOW I HELP

A BRAND THAT GETS READ RIGHT,
and a website that puts it to work.

You do careful work. Your brand and website should show it, clearly enough that the right customers see the value before they ever call. That's what I build — not just a logo and a site, but a way of saying what you bring that wins the customers you want and earns what the work is worth.

BRAND

A name, voice, and visual system that hold up next to bigger names, so the right customers are already leaning in before the first conversation starts.

WEBSITE

A site that works whether you're at the job site or asleep, answering the questions prospects already have and pre-qualifying the ones who reach out.

- - - - - THE PROPRIETOR

A ONE PERSON SHOP. On purpose.

When you hire The Better Brand Shop, you work directly with the person doing the thinking, writing, and designing. No handoffs to a junior, no game of telephone between strategists and designers, no diluted version of the idea by the time it reaches the page. I'm Gretchen Zachan, a writer and creative director, and I run this studio solo.

I put the same care into your brand and website that you put into your work. Every word and detail is chosen on purpose, because a business that's careful about what it makes should look it.

It also means I can hold the whole project in my head at once — the copy, the look, the positioning, the photography — and make sure every piece is pulling in the same direction. Divide that work across a team and something usually gets lost in the handoff. Few people think through a project as fully, or as far into the details, as I do.

WHO THIS SHOP IS FOR.

Small organizations that have outgrown the brand they started with. People doing the work themselves, or close to it. Trades, farms, builders, makers, schools, mission-driven organizations — places where the work is real, the standards are high, and the marketing has been an afterthought for a while. (Understandably. You've been busy doing the actual work.)

A lot of the businesses I work with show up at a turning point:

- - - The business has grown. The brand hasn't quite caught up.

- - - They're competing on price and ready for that to change.

- - - They want better customers, not just more leads.

- - - They want a front door that matches the work behind it.

If any of that sounds familiar, I'd love to hear about it.

HOW THE WORK
GETS DONE.

01

Sit down and figure out what the job is.
A real conversation about your business, who you serve, and what you actually need this work to do — not a form to fill out before we've even talked.

02

Build the foundation on the page that matters most.
Position, voice, and visual identity — tested against your homepage, because that's the page a stranger actually judges you on. If it doesn't work there, it isn't ready yet.

03

Round out the rest of the site — and everything else.
Once the homepage is right, the rest of the build follows the same system. Every other page, then the business cards and signage pick up the same look and voice without a separate project.

04

Launch — and grow into it.
You launch with a brand and site that grow with you, not one you'll be replacing in two years.

COME IN AND
let’s talk shop.

If your business has outgrown its brand or its website — or you're just tired of looking smaller than you actually are — I'd love to hear about it. I read every message myself, and I'll get back to you within a day or two with real thoughts, not a templated reply.
